Health Management

We are working to promote health management, evaluating the expectations and effectiveness of health promotion measures that will help solve related issues

Details on our Health Management Initiatives
・ In addressing health issues, KYB goes beyond simply considering risk exposure improvement activities such as     reducing the number of affected employees. We view health promotion activities that prevent an increase in the     number of health issues as crucial ongoing efforts. We believe this two-pronged approach will lead to an improvement     in employee health.
・ The amount invested in health for FY2022 was 8.25 million yen (for the Health Management System).
・ Health support services were rolled out in September 2023. (Registration rate as of September 30, 2023: 13%)
<Physical>
・ Focusing on measures against lifestyle-related diseases and second-hand smoke. We plan to reduce absenteeism by     promoting an increase in exercise habits and improvements to dietary habits.
<Mental>
・By raising awareness toward a harassment-free workplace and work-life balance, we plan to increase employees who     can demonstrate high productivity without feeling stress, thus enhancing positive attitudes in the workplace.

Organizational Structure for Promoting Health Management

With the top management positions tasked with overseeing heath management, the entity conducts the sharing of information on health management issues and ensures the effectiveness
and continuance of initiatives. This is done in collaboration with the health management promotion project in charge of promotion at each office or plant, the safety education committee, and our group companies.

Health Management Policy

Physical health
1. Lifestyle disease countermeasures (Collaboration with health insurance measures)

(1)Making a comfortable working environment
We support the use of walking trails that are available inside and outside of our plants and offices, holding walking competitions, and continuing exercise habits after competitions.

(2)We are working to maintain a rate of 100% in employees receiving regular health checkups, and to improve the rate of employees receiving specific health checkups, including their dependents.

A medical checkup focused on metabolic syndrome and aiming to prevent lifestyle-related diseases (for people aged 40–74)

2. Stages of preventing second-hand smoke

(1)Environmental measures
We took a phased approach based on the second-hand smoke prevention policy enacted in April 2020. As of April 2022, we enacted a total smoking ban at all plants and offices.

<Second-hand smoke prevention policy>
April 2020: Indoor smoking areas removed
January 2021: Smoking banned during working hours (smoke breaks prohibited)
April 2022: Smoking completely prohibited on the premises and sales of cigarettes within the plant ended

(2)Support for quitting smoking
We provide ongoing support for employees who want to quit smoking.

(3)Education
We held a second-hand smoking panel exhibition in the form of a quiz, taking into account the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

Mental health
1. Measures to support mental health

(1)Hold mental health education
We believe that primary prevention is important for mental health measures in the workplace, so we promote education that is level-specific and aimed at primary prevention.

(2)Harassment-free campaigns with the cooperation of each function and business division
In order to create a workplace where people can do their work with a sense of worth and purpose, it most important that there is no harassment. Based on that thinking, we added ”harassment-free” to the Key Initiatives of the Corporate Policies. This policy is being carried out in each department and function.

Indices Related to Health Management

カヤバ[健康経営に係る指標]

*1. Rate of health guidance provided to those who fall under KYB’s standards for employment restrictions II and III (high-risk workers).
*2. Absence from work for one month or more due to injury or illness. Benchmark (BM) measurements started in 2018.
*3. Percentage of the number of people who scored between 7 and 20 points in the question total (rate of those answering no problem + minor problems), using a WFun index.
*4. Scores from the employee attitude survey on work fulfillment. It was taken by 4,058 employees in FY 2022, and the response rate was 87.1%.
